This illustration of a calf in the Galician fields pays homage to Galicia's deep agricultural roots. The word ‘Vacalo’, a special term local farmers use to call their cows, brings authenticity and cultural connection.
Context & concept
Vacalo is a personal illustration grounded in Galician rural life. The name comes from the colloquial term local farmers use for their cattle, a small piece of everyday vernacular that anchors the work in a real place and a real community. The idea was to capture calm and serenity, and to celebrate the union between nature and tradition.
An original, self-directed illustration
I owned this one end to end: the concept, the visual language and the final artwork. It is a personal project where the brief, the story and the craft were all mine to define.
